Porsche Classic Elevates Vintage Driving with Cutting-Edge Infotainment Systems

In an exciting development for classic car enthusiasts, Porsche Classic has announced an expansion of its state-of-the-art infotainment systems, ushering vintage Porsche vehicles into the modern age. Since 2020, Porsche Classic has been offering two infotainment systems – the Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) and the Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus (PCCM Plus) – for a wide range of vintage and modern classic cars. These systems have proven to be a hit among Porsche aficionados, enabling features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto™, making media playback, navigation, and phone calls easier than ever before.

Now, in a move that will thrill owners of early 911 generation 997 models (model years 2005-2008), early Boxster and Cayman models (model years 2005-2008), and the first-generation Cayenne (model years 2003-2008), Porsche Classic is making its cutting-edge infotainment systems available for these iconic vehicles.

Ulrike Lutz, Director of Porsche Classic, expressed the rationale behind this expansion: “There is a huge demand for contemporary networking of our timeless classics. And soon after the successful launch of the infotainment systems for retrofitting, we received corresponding queries from owners of early 911 generation 997. This is why we’re now significantly extending our range of Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus devices for retrofitting.”

These new PCCM Plus devices are designed to seamlessly integrate into the selected Porsche models. They replace original built-in devices, such as the CD radio CDR 23 (Cayenne) and the CD radio CDR 24 (Boxster/Cayman), as well as the second-generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) in 2 DIN format. The look and feel of the PCCM Plus are harmoniously aligned with the car’s existing components, like the climate control panel and push buttons, bearing the unmistakable Porsche logo.

Owners can rest assured that peripheral components like amplifiers, speakers, and antennas can still be used as before, and the navigation displays in the instrument cluster continue to be supported. These enhancements ensure that the PCCM Plus not only adds modern functionality but also seamlessly integrates into the car’s interior.

One of the standout features of the PCCM Plus is its 7-inch touchscreen with a state-of-the-art graphical display. The European version includes DAB+ for digital radio reception, while the version for the USA and Canada is programmed for SiriusXM® satellite radio. The on-board navigation system comes with Points of Interest (POI) specific to Porsche, displayed in both 2D and 3D formats, and regular map updates are planned for the future.

Media playback options include USB sticks, Bluetooth®, Apple CarPlay (compatible with iPhone 5 onwards), and Android Auto™. Additionally, the PCCM Plus offers a trip computer that provides valuable driving data. In the 911, Boxster, and Cayman models, personal settings for various vehicle functions, such as lights, wipers, climate control, and locking, can be stored, providing a tailored driving experience.

For those eager to enhance their vintage Porsche’s infotainment capabilities, the PCCM Plus is priced at EUR 1,520.37 and can be ordered through Porsche Centres. While fitting the device at a Porsche Classic partner or Porsche Centre is recommended, adventurous DIY enthusiasts can also explore installation possibilities.
